Primary Documents:
In this section, a number of documents are provided from the early years of the NAACP. Documents include the call
and minutes of the first meeting of the NAACP 100 years ago in 1909.
Scholarly Articles:
The articles continued in this section chronicle the work of African Americans throughout the 20th century to gain
full citizenship in the United States. This includes the involvement of the NAACP in every facet of African American
life during the twentieth century, lynching, grass roots activism, electoral politics, and the struggle for equality in the
military.
Children’s Corner:
In this section a number of crossword puzzles are provided for the use of school aged children to encourage and
help them to learn more about the Civil Rights Movement, the work of the NAACP and African American
achievement during the 20th Century.
Teacher’s Corner:
Provided in this section are items geared specifically toward teachers to assist them with presenting this subject to
their school aged students.
In addition, copies of the Black History Bulletin and Woodson Review are provided for the use of educators and
others wanting to learn more about the struggle of African Americans to gain full citizenship.
Also, the Black History Month Event Planner has been included on the CD-Rom to assist with planning your Black
History Month program.
